HVAC Warranty Guides by Brand

Every major brand publishes two parts warranties: a long one if the unit was registered on time and a short one if it was not. Pick your brand below to see the current coverage terms, registration deadline, compressor and heat exchanger rules, and what happens when the home is sold.

Warranty windows run on the calendar. Know your unit's age first.

Coverage is measured in years from installation, so the manufacture date is the anchor for every claim. Decode your serial number free and you will know which warranty window you are in before you call anyone.

Brand not listed?

We publish guides for brands whose current residential terms we have verified. For any other brand, the pattern is usually the same: a longer parts term with on-time registration, a shorter base term without it, and no labor coverage. Find your unit on the full brand list to decode its age, then check coverage on the manufacturer's site.

How HVAC Warranties Actually Work

Registration is the whole game. Most brands double their parts coverage, typically from 5 years to 10 or 12, when the unit is registered within 60 to 90 days of installation. The equipment is identical; only the paperwork differs.

Parts only, never labor. A manufacturer warranty sends your contractor a free replacement part. The hours to diagnose and install it are billed to you unless your installer offered a separate labor guarantee.

The clock starts at installation. If nobody can prove the install date, brands fall back to the manufacture date encoded in the serial number, which is exactly what our free age lookup decodes.

Home sales change the math. Some brands transfer coverage for a fee, others drop the new owner to the shorter base term automatically. If you just bought a house, check the brand guide above before assuming the fancy 10-year warranty came with it.
