About Amana HVAC Systems
Amana started in 1934, when a group of Iowa farmers formed a cooperative to make appliances for their community. The brand went through multiple owners over the decades. Raytheon held it for a while before Goodman bought the HVAC side in 2001. Daikin then acquired Goodman in 2012, which brought Amana HVAC into the Daikin family. The Amana appliance brand (refrigerators, washing machines) is entirely separate, owned by Whirlpool. Amana HVAC makes central air conditioners, heat pumps, and gas furnaces, and uses the same serial number format as Goodman: month in positions 1-2, year in positions 3-4.
