About Ameristar HVAC Systems

Owned by Trane Technologies

Ameristar is Trane Technologies' value-tier brand, sold through contractors as a budget-friendly alternative to Trane and American Standard. It's built in the same plants and shares many of the same components, just with fewer features and a shorter parts warranty.

Because Ameristar launched around 2011, its units use Trane's modern serial format: the first two digits are the year and the next two are the week of manufacture. A serial starting with 1316 was built in week 16 of 2013.

Common Ameristar HVAC Models & Series

Ameristar HVAC Quick Facts

Warranty

Ameristar offers a 5-year parts warranty and 5-year compressor warranty as standard, with no registration required. Optional dealer-extended plans can stretch coverage to 10 years parts. The shorter standard warranty is one of the main differences vs. Trane and American Standard.

Expected Lifespan

AC / Heat pumps: 12 to 17 years
Furnaces: 15 to 20 years

Where It's Built

Tyler, Texas (residential AC and heat pumps) — the same Trane Technologies plant that builds Trane and American Standard equipment. Furnaces are built in Trenton, New Jersey.

Price Positioning

Budget tier — typically 25-40% less than Trane or American Standard equivalents at install, despite shared manufacturing.

Known Ameristar Issues to Watch For

A short list of patterns reported on Ameristar equipment. Most have been addressed with revised designs or service bulletins, but they're useful context if you're diagnosing an older system.

  • Ameristar uses the same Trane Climatuff compressor on entry models but has thinner cabinet construction and basic louvered coil guards instead of Trane's Spine Fin design.
  • The shorter 5-year parts warranty means out-of-pocket repair costs hit earlier than on Trane or American Standard equipment.
  • Limited dealer network — some markets have only 1-2 Ameristar dealers, which can affect warranty service responsiveness.

Ameristar HVAC FAQs

Ameristar follows Trane's data-plate placement: silver plate on the right side of the outdoor condenser near the service valves, and inside the furnace burner compartment door. Serials start with 4 digits encoding the year and week.

Related HVAC Brands

Ameristar shares a parent company with these brands, so they often use similar serial number formats and components.
