About Ameristar HVAC Systems
Owned by Trane Technologies
Ameristar is Trane Technologies' value-tier brand, sold through contractors as a budget-friendly alternative to Trane and American Standard. It's built in the same plants and shares many of the same components, just with fewer features and a shorter parts warranty.
Because Ameristar launched around 2011, its units use Trane's modern serial format: the first two digits are the year and the next two are the week of manufacture. A serial starting with 1316 was built in week 16 of 2013.

Known Ameristar Issues to Watch For
A short list of patterns reported on Ameristar equipment. Most have been addressed with revised designs or service bulletins, but they're useful context if you're diagnosing an older system.
- •Ameristar uses the same Trane Climatuff compressor on entry models but has thinner cabinet construction and basic louvered coil guards instead of Trane's Spine Fin design.
- •The shorter 5-year parts warranty means out-of-pocket repair costs hit earlier than on Trane or American Standard equipment.
- •Limited dealer network — some markets have only 1-2 Ameristar dealers, which can affect warranty service responsiveness.
