About York HVAC Systems
York has been making HVAC equipment since 1874. The brand and the Pennsylvania city it's named after have been linked from the beginning. Johnson Controls acquired York in 2005 and runs it as a separate brand. York makes a wide range of residential and commercial heating and cooling equipment, from small split systems all the way to large commercial chillers. The serial number uses a letter-based date code in the first two positions, where each letter maps to a specific year or month depending on the encoding table used by that generation of equipment.
