About Fujitsu HVAC Systems

Owned by Fujitsu General

Fujitsu General is a subsidiary of Fujitsu Limited that makes HVAC equipment, primarily ductless mini-split and multi-zone systems. In North America, Fujitsu is one of the top-selling mini-split brands alongside Mitsubishi and Daikin. The company has been making air conditioning equipment since the 1950s.

There's a genuine limitation here: Fujitsu does not encode the manufacture date in the serial number the way most brands do. The serial identifies the unit and production run, but not the date. Enter your serial number above and the model lookup will attempt to identify your unit's manufacture period from available records.

Common Fujitsu HVAC Models & Series

Fujitsu HVAC Quick Facts

Fujitsu offers a 12-year parts and 12-year compressor warranty on Halcyon Pro Elite-Contractor-installed equipment when registered. Standard installations get 10 years parts and 7 years compressor. Coverage transfers to subsequent homeowners on most residential models.

Where It's Built

Fujitsu mini-splits and VRF equipment are manufactured at Fujitsu General plants in Thailand, China, and Japan. There is no US-based final assembly.

Price Positioning

Premium tier — Halcyon mini-splits cost 25-40% more than budget brands like Pioneer or Senville, comparable to Mitsubishi M-Series.

Known Fujitsu Issues to Watch For

A short list of patterns reported on Fujitsu equipment. Most have been addressed with revised designs or service bulletins, but they're useful context if you're diagnosing an older system.

  • Halcyon mini-splits are sensitive to flare-fitting torque on the line set; under-torqued connections leak slowly over years and are the #1 service call on properly-spec'd installs.
  • Indoor units in humid climates can develop drain pump failures around year 5-7; a relatively cheap part to replace but disruptive when it happens.
  • Some 2014-2018 multi-zone outdoor units had defrost-control issues in very cold conditions; firmware updates from Fujitsu addressed most cases.

Fujitsu HVAC FAQs

Fujitsu serials are usually on a sticker on the right side of the outdoor unit and behind the front panel of the indoor head. Note that Fujitsu does not encode the manufacture date in the serial — use the model number prefix to identify the unit's production era.

Related HVAC Brands

Fujitsu shares a parent company with these brands -- they often use similar serial number formats and components.
